Introverts Unite! Ode to One of My Fave Introverts

Introverts Unite

Introverts unite! This is a little poem I wrote many years ago in creative writing school. It is written as an ode to a character in The Breakfast Club, Alison Reynolds, played by Ally Sheedy. The assignment for the poem was to write an abecedarian, which I had never heard of before. I won’t tell you what an abecedarian is; instead, I’ll leave it up to you to figure out as you’re reading the poem. 🙂

Gimme an “A”

Gimme an “A” for Ally Sheedy, your
Breakfast Club dandruff and an
Existential Flaw remain here, with me. I preferred your lack of
Gregariousness to the
Heaped makeup of that pinked girl: the
Influential force of female perfection. But,
Juxtapositions aside, did the
Kiss complete or did it confuse what you
Lose in become more
Never forget me, or “don’t you” to be precise, and speaking of
Obsolescence, what happened to the Brat Pack‘s
Promise of a Quirky, Raucous Success
Turned as-
                      Under? Oh,
Venerable Ally,
Where art thou now, except in my
Xanaxed Xanadu – it is there
You will remain, pre-
                                           Zerved in cellophane.
